MAN CHARGED WITH CRIME

Trevor John Kelly, aged 24, a motor mechanic, who was arrested at Bnsbane on Sunday and charged wit r stealing a motor-truck, was brought to Tenterfield yesterday and charged with the murder of Constance Sommerlad and inflicting grievous bodily harm on her brother. Kelly was remanded.
A Sydney cablegram published on Monday' stated: The brutal murder of a prominent young woman and grave injuries to her brother have stirred the northern districts of New South Wales. The dead woman, Constance Sommerlad, aged 36, kept house for her brother, Eric Sommerlad, aged 26, farmer, four miles from Tenterfield. Apparently Miss Sommerlad was attacked with an axe while in bed, her head being frightfully battered. Her brother, who was similarly assailed, was found unconscious. The tragedy was discovered on Saturday by a sister who visited the house.
