“CLARION CALL"
ISSUED BY CHURCH LEADERS
GENERAL SUPPORT INVITED. FOR WORLD CONFERENCE ON PEACE. The following appeal for peace and goodwill and advocacy of a world peace conference, has been issued by the leaders of the various churches in New Zealand:— “The world today is at the crossroads. One road leads to war with its attendant, mass suffering and grievous harm inflicted upon innocent women and children. The other road leads to peace upon earth and goodwill among mem We are convinced that a world
wide return to God and His laws pro-. vides the only solution foi the establishment of peace upon earth and goodwill among men. "We therefore invite every peace loving person to support our New Zealand Prime Minister’s appeal for a World Peace Conference in which the causes of war will be discussed with a view to their removal and in which a genuine attempt will be made to bring peace on earth and goodwill among men. "We sincerely trust that this conference, if convened, will work on a spii itual basis and carefully analyse the fundamental causes of strife between the nations and the causes of economic and industrial rivalry which lead to
friction between country and country. “If New Zealand will thus assist in the cause of world peace she will materially contribute to the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth. "We are’assured that the peoples of the world want peace. We know it is the will of Christ and so we call upon each one of you (1) to pray daily for peace, (2) to work to create a peace consciousness in the hearts and minds of men, women and children, (3) to work to remove the causes of war, economic and others, and (4) to support the New Zealand Prime Minister's
request for a World Peace Conference. "We invite all peacemakers to read this “Clarion Call” at their meetings, to publish it in their papers, magazines, etc, and to broadcast it from every available radio station.
