THE GAEKWAR OF BARODA

By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 10.35 a.m.) BOMBAY. February G. The death has occurred of the Gaekwar of Baroda.

His Highness Maharaja Gaekwar Sir Savaji Rao 111, Gaekwar of Baroda, a State with an area of 8,164 square miles and a population of nearly 2,500,000. was born in 1863 and succeeded in 1875. He was invested with ruling powers in 1881. He gave large sums to the British Government for the purchase of aeroplanes and other purposes during the Great War. His Highness represented India at the Imperial Conference of 1937 and attended the Coronation of King George VI. The Gaekwar was the author of several publications.
