SHOW ENTRIES

INCREASE ON LAST YEAR’S TOTAL. NEXT WEEK’S BIG ATTRACTION. Entries received for the Masterton A. and P. Association’s Show, which is to be held at Solway on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 14 and 15, show an increase on last year’s total and with the addition of one or two competition classes in which post entries are received it is expected that the final figures will be about 200 in excess of last year’s total, which was 2383. So far the entries this year total 2487. Except for the classes in which post entries are. permissible, entries have now definitely closed. Details are as follow: —

There is a substantial increase in the entries in the cattle section, but on account of the adverse season the sheep entries show a slight decrease. Pigs and horses have maintained last year’s figures. There is a big increase in the home industry classes. In one of the hack events there arc 24 entries and a jumping contest has attracted a similar number of competitors.

Entries for the nim fair, which is to be held on the two following days after the show, total 3126 as compared with 2872 last year.
