CUT FLOWERS

SHIPMENT FROM SOUTH AFRICA. WINNIPEG. An unusual item for the Christmas trade was received here in the form of a shipment of cut flowers from the Union of South Africa. The flowers, commonly known as “South African Wonder Flowers,” were in good condition when unpacked after travelling over 10,000 miles. The trade name oi

the plant is “Chincherinchee” which is the native way of describing the sound of .the stalks of the plant rubbing together. The botanical name is "Ornithagolum.” These cut blooms are known to stay fresh from six to thirteen weeks if the ends of the stems are clipped periodically, and they will con- I tinue to bloom during that time. The flowers are dainty clusters of waxy white on sturdy stems.
