SUBMARINE LOST

JAPANESE VESSEL SUNK AT MANOEUVRES. RESCUE WORK IN PROGRESS. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. TOKIO, February 3. The Navy Office announces that the Japanese submarine 1.63 was sunk yesterday morning after colliding with another submarine in Bungo Straits during manoeuvres. Rescue work is proceeding.

The 1.63 was launched at Sasebo in 1928. She is 3311 feet long and carries a complement of 56.
