CHURCH SERVICES
All Church of England Sunday Schools and Bible Classes in Masterton will resume tomorrow. The Holy Communion will be celebrated at St Matthew’s Church at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. The Rev T. V. Pearson will be the preacher in the morning, and in the evening the vicar will speak on “Rival Philosophies.” There will be services at Taueru in the afternoon, and at 7 p.m. Mr V. W. Joblin will be the preacher at Kuripuni. The Sunday School year will commence at 9.45 a.m. tomorrow in Lans- 1 down Presbyterian Church Hall. A
special service for the dedication of gifts recently presented to the church, and also the rededication of the workers for the new year will also take place. The services at the Salvation Armj' tomorrow will be conducted by Major and Mrs Mahaffie. Mrs Mahaffie will be the speaker at the morning service, her subject being "Purity and Spiritual Maturity.” Major Mahaffie will give a special address in the evening, which will be a timely message for these troublesome days, entitled "The Most Important Question of the Day.” All are heartily invited to these services. Special New Year covenant services will be held in the Methodist Church on Sunday, marking the real commencement of the church year after the holiday vacation. The Rev Frederick J. Parker will be the preacher, the morning subject being a study of the amazing fact that God covenants with his people, while in the evening the special covenant thought will be "Reality and Renewal.” After the shortened evening service, the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be administered. It is desired that as many members as possible take part in the communion service as an act of renewal of the covenant. The special order of service will, be followed in these services.
At the Kuripuni Methodist Church tomorrow morning the preacher will be Mr E. Steer, and at the evening service Mr A. Handyside will conduct the service.
