STOCK MARKET
CARTERTON SALE. CATTLE SLIGHTLY FIRMER. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co Ltd, report: —We held our weekly sale at Carterton yesterday when we offered a fairly big yarding to a good attendance. The sheep sale was not brisk, and prices were about on a par with late sales. Cattle were slightly firmer, there being far more competition for fwd condition cows. Springers were hard to quit. Pigs met a fairly strong market ,and sold at late rates. The following are the prices realised: — Sheep, 2th ewes, to 26s lOd; fat b.f.’s 16s 9d to 18s; fat wethers, 17s to 20s; fat lambs, 20s to 225; fat ewes, to 9s 9d; b.f. lambs, 14s, 14s lOd, 15s 9d to 16s 6d; med. b.f. lambs, 11s 6d to 13s Id; woolly wether lambs, 11s to 13s Id; small wether lambs, 5s 3d to 9s 7d. Cattle: Springing heifers, to £5 10s; fat cows, £4 10s to £5 14s; forward cows, £3 Is to £4; store cows, £2 5s to £2 16s; cows and calves, £4 10s to £5 15s; yearling Jersey heifers, to £2 ss; bulls, £3 7s 6d io £6 7s 6d. Pigs: Weaners (good), 14s to 18s 6d; .(medium), Ils to 13s 6d; (small), 8s to 10s; slips, 20s to 265; porkers, 30s to £2 7s; choppers, £2 to £4.
