WOMEN’S DIVISION

MEETING IN MASTERTON. xiie monthly meeting of the Masterton branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held in the rooms, King Street, on Wednesday last. There were present: Mesdames Ken Groves (president), Burling, Alex Donald, Gawith, Engstrom, W. James, Ross, Rue and Wright. The members expressed great pleasure at the result of the Shop Day held at the Occidental Mart in December last, when a very substantial sum was raised to assist the Flock House scheme, Palmerston North. The president reminded members that Mrs C. C. Jackson was to be entertained and a presentation made to her on Wednesday, February 8, at 2 p.m. as a slight appreciation of the splendid service rendered to the Women’s Division as secretary of the Provincial Council for a period of thirteen years.

It as decided to send a letter of sympathy to Mr Hugh McKenzie, Kopuaranga, ifi his recent bereavement. A. lengthy discussion took place in regard to the engagement of a housekeeper and finally it was decided not to engage one at present. Mesdames Alex Donald and Gawith were appointed hostesses for the March meeting.

Afternoon tea was afterwards partaken of.
