NOBEL PRIZE
THE SUGGESTED AWARD TO HITLER.
SWEDISH SCHOOL INSPECTOR’S JIBE.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright, LONDON, January 30.
The Stockholm correspondent of “The Times” reveals that the suggestion that Herr Hitler should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize was a political prank. Dr Brandt, an inspector of schools, with Communist leanings, facetiously suggested that the avoidance of war last September was due to Herr Hitler’s glowing love of peace, which was best documented by the Fuehrer’s book “Mein Kampf,” the most widespread piece of literature next to the Bible.
If war mongers did not interfere, he said, Herr Hitler ere long would pacify Europe and perhaps the world. Mr Neville Chamberlain might receive a small portion of the prize for his extraordinary consideration and understanding of Herr Hitler’s peace endeavours.
