OBITUARY

MRS MARGARET JANE VINCENT. The death occurred yesterday at her residence, 87 Worksop Road. Masterton. of Mrs Margaret Jane Vincent, at the age of 70 years. The late Mrs Vincent was born at Woodend, Canterbury. and prior to her marriage was post-mistress there. She had been a resident of the Wairarapa district for 29 years. She lived in Pahiatua for 6 years, where she took an active part in the work of St. Peter’s Parish, and came to Masterton 23 years ago. Mrs Vincent is survived by a widower (Mr Francis Henry Vincent) and four daughters. Mesdames F. Dean (Masterton), C. Holmwood (Wangaehu), F. Brunton (Rongomai), and Miss Irene Vincent.

The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving the late residence at 4 p.m. for the Masterton Cemetery.

A SAMOAN VETERAN. MR G. E. L. WESTBROOKE. (Received This Day, 11.30 a.m.) APIA, January 31. Obituary: Mr George Egerton Leigh Westbrooke, aged 78, a retired merchant. Mr Westbrooke was formerly an elected member of the Samoan Legislative Council. He had been resident in Apia for 45 years, and previously had spent several years trading in other South Pacific islands. He was always prominent in Samoan affairs and was well known throughout the South Pacific.
