RESUMPTION OF SALES.
CROSSBREDS IN DEMAND. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. SYDNEY, January 31. Good competition from the Continent and Yorkshire marked the resumption of the Sydney wool auctions today. Moderate support came from Japan and local mills. Prices for the best merino were from par to five per cent, lower than in the previous Sydney series in sympathy with the Brisbane and London markets. Comebacks and crossbreds sold freely and firmly at recent rates. Greasy merino made 16jd The offering consisted of 11,433 bales of which 10,030 were sold at auction and 910 privately.
