INTOXICATION CHARGE
LANGDALE MOTORIST BEFORE COURT. REMAND UNTIL FEBRUARY 9. Herbert William Buckeridge, farmer, of Langdale, appeared in the Mastertori Magistrate’s Court this morning before Messrs J. H. Irving and C. E. Grey. J.’sP., on a charge of being found intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car in Opaki Road last night. Senior-Sergeant G. A. Doggett appeared for the police and Mr C. C. Marsack represented accused. On the application of the police a remand was granted until February 9. Bail was renewed at £25 self and one surety of £25. Commenting on the amount of bail, Mr Irving said: “It certainly seems a small bail for such a serious offence, but if the police are raising no objections we will agree to it.”
Arising out of the same set of circumstances, a first offender was convicted and fined the amount of his bail, 10s, when he appeared on a charge of being found drunk in Opaki Road.
