"THEFT OF COLONIES"
HITLER ON NAZI GERMAN AIMS “Distribution of World’s Riches” TIRADE AGAINST “JEWISH WARMONGERS” ANNIHILATION OF RACE THREATENED By Telegraph.—Press Association.— Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, January 30. Following on his statement that the Nazis had no intention of attacking anyone or imposing their regime on China, South America, Holland or Australia, Herr Hitler continued: “But that is what the Western nations predict. Perhaps they think we may next occupy the moon.” ) In a later passage, Herr Hitler claimed that Germany had t e same right as any other nation to open up the resources of the world and declared that the theft of the colonies was morally unjust and politically madness. “Either the world’s riches must be distributed according to power and violence.” he said, “or by justice, and then peace will prevail, but it is madness to imagine that a few nations can occupy permanently all the resources of the world. Such theoiies may satisfy capitalist democracies, but not us.” It, was folly, he added, to imagine that Italy and Germany could be excluded from the wealth of the world. It was stupid to pretend that Germany could not manage colonies. He described that argument that colonies would be advantageous to Germany strategically as hypocritical. Germany did not want colonies in order to raise armies in them. She did not need colonies for strategic purposes. No nation could continue to exist without bases for food supply and raw materials. “We want colonies,” he said, “for economic relief. If others complain that economic'methods damage them, they must blame themselves for forcing us to adopt such methods. The denial of colonies forces us to seek national self-sufficiency, and as far as that cannot be realised to stimulate our exports. We must export goods for food or die, but the German people will live. We can promise a desperate struggle if faced with counter-measures.” Words to Britain and America The Fuhrer announced his determination to reorganise the Reichsbank as a German institution and to increase military efficiency. ‘Do not. forget,” he said, “that it seems to be the privilege of democracy to nurse hatred of the totalitarian States. We will not permit British and American critics to meddle in our affairs. We shall remain a sovereign state, guaranteed by our arms and our. friends.” “Germany nurses no hatred of England and America and wants to live in peace with them, but they are continually incited by Jewish war-mongers. There are people responsible for the previous war again trying to provoke war. If we defend ourselves against these apostles of war—Churchill, Duff Cooper and others, we are accused of attacking them. If international financial Jewry starts another war it will not end in the destruction of Germany, but in the annihilation of the Jewish race throughout Europe. If Italy is involved in war it is absolutely certain that Germany will be on her side. Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany will secure European civilisation. Germany has no territorial claims against England and France except colonial claims. Only war-mongers think there will be war. I think there will be a long period of peace. We.are helping Nationalist Spain to avert the possibility of a Bolshevist Spain. “Nazi Germany knows what her fate would be if the international Powers succeeded in defeating Italy, but Italy and Germany are strong enough to secure peace or resist any coalition. We are determined to defend our interests together. The same considerations explain our attitude towards Japan. Her defeat would only bring further attack against Italy and Germany. The colonies question alone would not justify war. England and France in the autumn showed that they placed peace above the maintenance of unjust conditions.” Herr Hitler sat down at 9.23 p.m.
