The sudden death of a tiger cub recently born at the Auckland Zoo brought to an end a breeding experiment which was being carried out by the curator. Lieutenant-Colonel E. R. Sawer. The cub was one of two born on January 1. and was being handreared by the curator at his home at Silverdale. Its fellow was left with the tigress and it was proposed to see which progressed more over a period of three months. The cub at Silverdale was in excellent health from birth and was steadily putting on weight, but it died unexpectedly after a seizure.
