Mr and Mrs Owen Jones and family have returned to Masterton after a holiday spent at Raumati Beach.

Mrs W. Mills, of Christchurch, was the guest of Mrs Gordon Smith, Hamua, over the weekend.

Mr and Mrs Fossey, of New Plymouth, were visitors to Masterton during the week. Miss H. Ross, of Auckland, and formerly of Konini, is a visitor to Pahiatua.

Miss Mary formerly of Lansdowne, who had been visiting Masterton, has returned to Feilding. Mrs E. Bassett, of Essex Street, Masterton, has returned home after having taken part in the croquet tournament at Palmerston North.

Mrs C. Simpson, Essex Street, Masterton, has returned from a visit to Nelson and the West Coast of the South Island.

Mr and Mrs F. Parkinson, of Wellington, have returned to their home in Hobson Street after spending two weeks at the “Rest Home,” Colombo Road, Masterton.

Fingall Street South, Dunedin, was a very busy thoroughfare on Saturday night between 6 and 7 o’clock when, at the Little Church at St. Michael’s, the only church of its order in the Dominion, a wedding ceremony in Greek Syrian, and English was performed by the Ver}' Rev. Archimandrite Antoniu Moboyed, who has charge of St. Nicholas’s Syrian Orthodox Church, Melbourne. The bride and bridegroom were Miss Mary Barbara, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Barbara, Musselburgh, and Mr Anthony Idour, eldest son of Mrs D. Idour and the late Mr Idour, Dunedin. Before their arrival the church was packed to the doors and those unable to gain admission lined the footpath to await a glimpse of the couple as they emerged after the long ceremony. It was the first Syrian marriage to be celebrated In Dunedin for 21 years, this fact creating wide public interest.

ENGAGEMENT. COLE—BYERS. The engagement is announced of Mae, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm. Byers, Edendale, Southland, to Kenneth Douglas, elaest son of Mr and Mrs F. Cole, 26 Chapel Street, Masterton.
