LOAN TO CZECHS
PROPOSALS BY BRITAIN AND FRANCE. SUBJECT TO PARLIAMENTARY APPROVAL. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received This Day, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, January 27. England, France and Czechoslovakia have signed an agreement under which Britain freely grants Czechoslovakia £4.000.000 in order to provide foreign exchange for refugees from the advance of £10,000,000 already made. France will undertake responsibility for interest and repayment of her loan to Czechoslovakia (1937-42), nominally 700,000,000 francs. England and France will guarantee a loan of £8,000,000 to be issued by Czechoslovakia, all subject to Parliamentary approval.
TOTAL OF £16,000.000. HALF AS FREE GIFT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) RUGBY, January 27. The total financial assistance to be given to Czechoslovakia by Britain and France, as the result of the new agreement, will be about £16,000,000, of which about half is granted as a free gift. Subject to Parliamentary approval Britain will treat as a free grant to Czechoslovakia £4,000.000 out of the advance of £10,000,000 already made.
