DEATH FROM INJURIES

FORMER PROMINENT RUGBY PLAYER. ACCIDENT NEAR LAKE FERRY. The death occurred at the Masterton Hospital today of Mr Patrick Clarence Byrn, a well known resident of Petone and a former prominent Rugby player, as the result of injuries received in a motor accident last week. In company with three other men. the late Mr Byrn was a passenger in a car driven by Mr W. P. McMahon and was on his way to Lake Ferry on a fishing expedition when the accident occurred. The car left the road and rolled down a bank. Mr Byrn was later conveyed to the Masterton Hospital in the ambulance suffering from fairly extensive injuries.

The late Mr Byrn was a returned soldier and was a widower with three children.

An inquest was opened this afternoon and adjourned after evidence of identification had been given.
