The child of rich parents saw a number of youngsters streaming across the street in front of her car. “Poor little children,” she reflected. “I suppose they’ve got no nurses—only mothers.” Mistress: “Good gracious, Annie, what’s this mess in the oven?” Maid: “I dropped the candles in the water, ma’am, so I put them into the oven to dry.”
