MARTINBOROUGH SALE.

GOOD DEMAND FOR B.F. LAMBS,

Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co Ltd report as follows:—We held our first sale of the year at Martinborough yesterday, when an entry not quite up to advertised numbers was offered to a fair attendance. Several pens of good b.f. lambs were offered, and this met with strong competition, and sold at good prices. Although prices for w.f. lambs were not very strong, they were decidedly better than those ruling at Masterton last Wednesday. We made a total clearance as under, 220 b.f. lambs, 15s 7d, 128 b.f. lambs (very good), 17s 3d, 53 b.f. lambs 14s 6d, 141 b.f. lambs (small), 9s 3d, woolly ewe lambs, 15s, 60 w. lambs (small) IDs 4d, fat wethers 18s, fat ewes 10s 3d. N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE CO. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report having held a sale at Martinborough yesterday, when a fair yarding of lambs came forward which were submitted to a good attendance of local buyers. Any lambs with condition sold well, while stores and small lambs met with quite a good sale. We had a total clearance at auction at the following prices: Good forward woolly wether lambs, 16/9; medium w.f. wether lambs 11/2, 11/4, to 12/6; small do., 6/2 to 8/4; good b.f. lambs. 14/-. 14/6 to 14/7; medium do., 9/9, 10/10 to 11/6; small do., 6/6 to 7/3. MESSRS. DALGETY & CO. Messrs. Dalgety & Co., Ltd., report that at the Martinborough sale held yesterday an average yarding of lambs was offered and prices generally appeared to show an improvement on those ruling elsewhere. A total clearance was effected as follows:—Woolly wether lambs, 8/-, 8/4, to 10/9; small do., 6/-, 6/8 to 8/-; small ewe lambs, 9/1 to 9/9.

EKETAHUNA SALE.

N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE CO

The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: We held our usual weekly sale at Eketahuna yesterday, when the entry came forward fully up to advertised numbers. Of the yarding of 4000 odd sheep we submitted 3200 lambs and wethers, 'a small entry of cattle, and a number of pens of pigs to a fair attendance. Buyers were present from Manawatu districts, and althoug'h a total clearance was effected the sale for medium and cull lots was dragging. Any good lines of lambs, dr even medium lambs attracted keen competition provided they were carrying condition. Good forward b.f. lambs and shorn wether lambs were mostly sought after. The yarding comprised some very attractive pens and for quality was the best sale of the year. Top price for wether lambs was obtained by the Welch Estate at 14s Bd. We report sales as follow:—

Sheep: Wether lambs, a/c Welch Estate, woolly, 14s 8d; med do, 10s 8d; a/c W. Edmonds, shorn do, 12s 8d; a/c Bicknell and Burch, do, 12s 7d; a/c B. Morriss, do, 10s 9d; a/c J. H. Hudson, woolly, 11s 8d; a/c Dickens Bros, do 10s; a/c Wright Est, med sh, 8s fid; a/c other vendors, 13s Id, 9s 6d, 8s 6d to 7s 4d. B.F. lambs, a/c Turner Estate, 16s 4d; a/c J. B. Carruthers. 14s 8d; a/c J. H. McDonald, 15s Id to 12s 3d; a/c R. Harman, 10s Id; a/c B. Morris, 10s 9d; smaller 'pens and cull lambs, from 10s, 7s 4d to 5s Id; ewe lambs, small, 13s lOd, 13s, 10s to 8s 6d; wethers, fat and forward, 16s 6d, 16s 2d to 15s 8d; fat 4ths, 18s 9d to 19s.

Cattle: Dairy cows, calved, £5 ss; store cows, ex dairy, £3 10s; coloured bullocks, fwd condition, £7; stags, £2 ss.

Pigs: Weaners, best, 255, 21s; others, 16s to 14s; slips, 25s to 18s 6d.

MESSRS. DALGETY & CO.

Messrs. Dalgety & Co., Ltd., report that at the Eketahuna sale a large yarding consisting principally of lambs with’a few pens of wethers, was offered to a representative attendance of buyers from local and outside districts. Some attractive lines were penned and sold under fair competition at prices slightly firmer than those ruling at Masterton the previous day. The top price for shorn wether lambs was secured by Messrs Leach Bros., of Alfredton. for a line of 110 well-grown fleshy lambs which realised 14/1. Practically a total clearance was effected at the following range of prices:— Shorn wether lambs, good, 11/8, 14/1; medium, 7/-, 7/8, 10/-'; small, 5/-, 5/3. Woolly wether lambs, medium, 10/9, 11/-; small, 5/-, 5/6. Medium ewe lambs, 13/9; small, 9/-. B.f. rape lambs 12/6; medium b.f. lambs, 8/1, 8/7; small do., 6/1, 7/5; fat b.f. 2-tooths, 17/9, 19/-; 4 and 6-tooth wethers, 16/6; 2-tooth wethers, small, 12/6.
