NEGLIGENT DRIVING
MOTORIST SENT TO GAOL FOR NINE 'MONTHS. OBSERVATIONS BY JUDGE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 26. Thomas George Hannam, 26. of Palmerston North, was sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment with hard labour by Sir Hubert Ostler on a charge of negligent driving, causing bodily injury. The judge said a terrible toll of life was being taken on the roads, mostly by men with no sense of responsibility and no regard for the rights of others or a realisation of their dutv to their fellowmen.
