BASEBALL

MATCHES IN CARTERTON. With a view to stimulating interest in baseball in Carterton where it is thought two teams will probably be formed, the Wairarapa Baseball Association at the regular meeting of the Management Committee last night, made arrangements for playing two matches on Saturday at the Carterton Showground. At 2 p.m. Pirates will play Harcombe Motors (Umpires, Messrs M. Curtin and W. Harding), and at 3.15 p.m. Borthwick’s Bears will play Reliance Tyres (Umpires, Messrs D. Handy and L. Allen) .Club captains will arrange transport for their individual teams. At 2.15 p.m. at Masterton, Fagan Motors will play Territorials. Baseballers will figure in the proposed procession to inaugurate “Keep Fit” Week and some 30 to 40 players, properly uniformed and carrying baseball equipment and banners will take part. Most of the teams have uniforms under order and should be fully equipped by the time of the proposed procession. Teams for Saturday’s matches will in future regularly be announced in Friday’s “Times-Age.” •
