CROQUET TOURNEY
NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. A. J. GIBBS AND A. G. F. ROSS ELIMINATED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N„ January 25. The Dominion croquet championships were continued in Palmerston North today in beautiful weather. A. J. Gibbs, a former champion, with a minus handicap, lost in the second life of the men’s championship to H. A. Penn, which puts him out of this event, and with A. G. F. Ross also beaten in both lives, there is some speculation as to the winner. The level singles event will probably be completed tomorrow in a match between Mrs Hill (Feilding) and Mrs McCreath (Gore), who eliminated Mrs Duckworth (Palmerston North) after a splendid game today. The handicap singles winner rests between Mrs Penn (Christchurch) and Mrs Hill (Feilding). Results: — OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP. Section One.
