Already £130.000 is available for bush fire relief, and each mail from New Zealand brings contributions to the "Argus” fund. The sum of £4 was collected from guests at the Tongariro Chateau who arrived on Monday. A Royal Commission has been appointed by the Government to inquire into the causes and prevention of. bush fires. It will begin the hearing of evidence on Tuesday. The Government is also providing £40.000 for road works in the fire areas to assist men who lost their jobs.
