RESTRAINT URGED
IN OCCUPIED TERRITORIES BRITAIN’S ADVICE TO FRANCO AVOIDANCE OF ACTS OF REVENGE ASSURANCES BY INSURGENT AUTHORITIES. (Received This Day. 9.45 a.m.) LONDON, January 25. The British Government has issued a statement that Mr C. B. Jerram (British Agent) informed the Burgos authorities that Britain earnestly hoped that General Franco would exercise restraint in occupied territories and refrain from acts of revenge, which •would create the worst possible impression in Britain and elsewhere. The authorities assured Mr Jerram that such acts were completely out of keeping with General Franco’s character and intentions.

READY TO GO TO SPAIN AT SHORT NOTICE. IN EVENT OF FRENCH ACTION. (Received This Day. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, January 25. Reuter's Rome correspondent reports that 30,000 regulars are concentrated at Genoa and Spezisin in readiness to go to Spain at a moment's notice, in the event of French troops crossing the Spanish frontier.
