REAL STARS
MAY BE OUSTED. One day the descendants of Dopey, "neezy and Co., may rival the Robert "aylors and Garbos of the future in ur cinemas. The British Film Institute, in its nnunl report, lists “Snow White” as a big step towards the creation on he screen of a completely independnt reality —independent, even of hunan beings. “Though we may be far from the day when our Garbos and Robert Taylors will be superseded by Dopey,
Grumpy, Sneezy, and their fantastic but amiable fraternity, _yet the plasticity of the cartoon film and its wide, popular appeal suggest tremendous possibilities.”
Of musical shows, the institute says: “Crude humour, featureless conglomerations of legs and 'glorious girls,’ and uninspired music, do not. apparently attract audiences as much as they once did.”
