ICE HOCKEY

A NATIONAL WINTER GAME. MONTREAL. Ice hockey can be rightly called the national winter game of Canada. Every year professional and amateur teams draw large sums of money in gate receipts, the international league in the eastern sectioh of Canada and the United States bringing in over 2,000,000 dollars a year. The western professional teams are not as highly organised and the game is not so remunerative as in the East. In addition to the many Canadians playing with home professional teams, there are approximately 200 playing with teams in the United States and more than 100 in the United Kingdom. In addition more than 15,000 amateur players are registered with the' smaller amateur leagues playing throughout Canada during the winter
