TWO MONTHS IN GAOL
SENTENCE ON CHRISTCHURCH MOTORIST. INTOXICATION IN CHARGE OF CAR. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, January ’24. Two months’ imprisonment and the suspension of his driving licence for five years was the penalty inflicted on Raymond Murray Watson, aged fortyeight. when he appeared in Court today charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a car on January 20. Watson had been convicted twice previously of intoxication in charge within the last four years. In reply to a plea by counsel for leniency, Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M., said he did not feel any particular hesitation in imposing a sentence. In most intoxication in charge cases one warning was more than sufficient. Accused had been dealt with twice since 1935. Once he had'been treated leniently and on the other occasion he was dealt with severely.
