“Numerous warnings have been given to taxi-drivers about speeding and we look to them to set a good example to other motorists,” said Inspector D. Rennie in the Magistrate's Court at Christchurch, when a taxidriver was charged with travelling at forty miles an hour along Hagley Avenue, a restricted area. “It’s proving a bit expensive, isn't it?” queried Mr E. C. Levvey. S.M. “I’m afraid so, sir,” replied the driver. He was fined £2 and costs.
