BUSH FIRE VICTIMS

EMPLOYMENT PROVIDED IN NEW ZEALAND. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. MELBOURNE, January 23. Many experienced bush mill hands who lost their jobs as the result of the bush fires are accepting employment in New Zealand. The secretary of the Victorian Timberworkers’ Union, Mr Scanlon, said today that the first batch of five will be leaving Melbourne by the Maunganui on Wednesday. The men are going in response to a message from the New Zealand union asking how it could help. The Victorian union asked the New Zealand union if it could find work for the men. The total number going to New Zealand has not yet been decided.
