SENT TO GAOL
AN INTOXICATED DRIVER. MAGISTRATE RECALLS WARNING. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) NAPIER, This Day. Fourteen days’ imprisonment were imposed by Mr J. Miller, S.M., on Alick McMillan, a commercial traveller, of Hastings, aged 36, for intoxication while in charge of a car. “Six weeks ago I issued a warning that I have to consider imprisonment in some of these cases,” the magistrate said. Taken on its own, this case is not a bad one, but this man has been before the Court twice on these charges and once for dangerous driving. The previous convictions should have been ample warning.” The defendant was prohibited from obtaining a licence for a year.
