FEILDING SALE.

STORE LAMBS DOWN IN PRICE,

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, January 20

Prices for store lambs were down af least 2s a head at the Fcilding stock sales today, when about 1000 were yarded. There was a large attendance ol farmers, but bidding was slow, and auctioneers had not a very encouraging day.

About 1200 wethers were also in the store pens, and white face woolly wether lambs made to 14s, good lines of average pens made 12s to 14s, and inferior lines ranged from Ils 7d. White face shorn lambs sold at up to 13s Gd for good pens, average lines 13s Id and 13s 2d, inferior 9s 4d. Woolly ewe lambs sold rather bettor, the best, sorts making 22s Gd. Other pens of woollies made to 17s lOd. and poor lines 10s 4d. Blackface lambs sold at 13s Gd to 14s 2d for the best pens. Of the others, prices ranging up to 12s 9d and 9s 4d were bid for poor sorts, two-tooth wethers 14s to 15s 4d. two-tooth ewes IGs, black face wethers, 13s 3d. There was a small offering of fat sheep, prices remaining at last week’s level.

A TOTAL CLEARANCE. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd report:—A good yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs came forward at our Carterton sale yestefday, and was offered to a large attendance. A good sale resulted, and a total clearance was effected under the hammer at the following prices:— Sheep:—Fat hogots. 19s Id, 20s 6d to 225; fat b.f.’s, 15s 3d to 18s Gd; fat maiden ewes, to 18s; woolly fat wethers, to 225, fat ewes, 10s to 10s 2d, forward ewes, to 9s 3d, b.f. rape lambs, 15s 4d, 15s 9d to IGs 4d; small b.f. lambs, 7s, 10s Gd to Ils; shorn ewe lambs, 10s 2d, 135.t0 13s 2d; small wether lambs, Bs. 8s 2d, 8s 4d, to 8s Gd; woolly wether lambs, Ils to 12s 4d; woolly ewe lambs, 13s 3d to 17s 2d; cull lambs, 6s 7d to 7s. Cattle: —Fat cows, £4 12s 6d to £6; fwd. cows, £3 10s to £4 2s; store cows, £2 5s to £3 2s Gd; cows and calves, £4 2s, £4 Ils to £5; Ayrshire, Holstein, cross heifers, to £5 10s; potter bulls, £3 10s to £7 9s.

Pigs:—Weaners (small), 14s to IGs; ’(medium), 16s to 17s 6d; (good), 18s to 20s Gd; slips, 21s to 235; store pigs, 25s to 295; light porkers, 30s Gd to 355; porkers, 38s to 48s 6d; baconers, 55s to 735; choppers, 30s to 47s 6d.
