NX CHAMPIONSHIPS HIGH STANDARD OF PLAY. EVENTS AT WANGANUI. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI. January 20. An exceptionally high standard of tennis was shown in the third day’s play in the New Zealand junior championships in Wanganui today, when conditions were good, apart from a cross-court breeze. With the final stages of events drawing near, today’s play produced some fine tennis in all sections. Results:— BOYS’ SINGLES. Semi-finals: Burns beat Kelly, 6 4, 6/4; McKenzie beat Secord. 6/1. 6/0. BOYS’ DOUBLES. Semi-finals: Burns and J. Smith beat Boosey and Walker, 6/3, C/3; Thompson and Johnston beat Soenrd and Barton, C/3, 5/7. 6/3. GIRLS 1 SINGLES. Semifinals: Elsom beat Symes. 9/6, 674, C/2. GIRLS’ DOUBLES. Semifinals: M. and R. Hodges beat Nicholls and Markman, 6/3, 6/3; Elsom and Fleetwood beat Wallace and W. Smith, 4/C, 6/2. 6/4. MIXED DOUBLES. Quarterfinals: Barton and Elsom beat Kelly and Nicholls, 6/3, 6/3; Haddock and Potter beat Kitt and Dickie, 6/3, 6/4. BOYS’ PLATE. Final: D. Dunn (Wellington) beat P. Smith (North Auckland). 9 ; 7. GIRLS' PLATE. Final —D. Dickie (Taranaki) beat J. Ludlow (Wellington), 9-7. COMBINED DOUBLES. Semi-final—R.
