ATHLETIC SPORTS

MEETING AT MASTERTON ON MONDAY.

The main attraction of the Masterton Amateur Athletic Club's Anniversary Day sports on the Park Oval will be tne attempt on the 600 yards track record of 73 2-ssec. by Pat Boot, Empire Games title holder. Boot will leave for Sydney next week to make an attempt on the world’s half mile record and his appearance on Monday will be the last in New Zealand before sailing. Great interest will also be taken in the exhibition run by Al Buch, the American coach and Olympic representative. Fitch is a fine performer and it is seldom that the people of Masterton are able to see an athlete of his class in action. W. A. C. Pullar, N.Z. Empire games representative, will run in the mile, and judging by his recent performances the public should see him at his best. This season there has been a steady increase in the standard of athletics in the Wairarapa, and the Masterion Club has succeeded in their efforts to popularise the. sport. An excellent programme has been arranged and should attract a large attendance. The Wellington contingent will include athletes ranked among the Dominion's best in Ford, Eastwood, Guy, Roe. McCashin, Hunter and many others. The eVents are timed to commence at 1.30 p.m.
