MANY EXCELLENT CONTESTS. The Masterton Swiming Club held a very successful meeting at the Dixon j Street Baths last
night, and some exciting contests were witnessed. A feature of the gathering was the appearance of J. Blakeley, N.Z. surf champ i o n, who gave a fine exhibition from scratch

Because the temperature of the water in the Coronation Baths, Dannevirke, has been considerably below 60 degrees for some time it has been decided to postpone the swimming carnival which 7 was to have marked the opening of the Dannevirke gala week on Saturday night. As the result of the postponement of the Dannevirke carnival the Masterton Swimming Club will make every effort for the club to be represented at the Lower Hutt swimming sports at the Riddiford Baths next Thursday evening, January 26. Intending competitors are requested to send in their entries immediately to Mr R. Barnes.
