The National Council of Labour lias sent a letter to Mr Chamberlain demanding the abrogation of the NonIntervention Pact and recognition of the Spanish Republicans’ right, to buy arms.
MR ATTLEE’S PROTEST ACTION ON LARGEST SCALE NEEDED. PREVENTION OF WHOLESALE STARVATION. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.45 p.m.) LONDON January 19. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr C R. Attlee) has again written to Mr Chamberlain expressing surprise at the contention that the abandonment of non-intervention would involve grave consequences. He pointed out that Mr Chamberlain told the House of Commons on November 2 last that Spain was no longer a menace io the peace of Europe.
Mr Attlee added that the situation was most serious and needed urgent action on the largest,-scale to prevent the wholesale starvation of women and children. He again urged the summoning of Parliament without delay.
