POLAND & DANZIG

THREAT TO LEAVE LEAGUE IF COMMISSIONER RESIGNS. ALLEGED GERMAN INTRIGUE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. GENEVA, January 18. Poland today threatened to walk out of the League of Nations if M. Karl J. Burckhardt resigned the League High Commissionership of Danzig. It is believed that Germany is prompting truculence. At a private meeting of three members of the Danzig committee, the representatives of England and France did not favour his resignation, but the Swedish member did. Mr Goldmann, the accredited Palestine representative to the League, urged M. Burckhardt’s removal on the ground that the constitution of Danzig had been violated by the expulsion of Jews. It is expected that M. Burckhardt will remain.
