MODEL AERO CLUB
CONTESTS IN MASTERTON. WEEK END ATTRACTION. The building of model aeroplanes, although believed by many to be a sport for children, is in reality a very instructive hobby. At Park's Air College in the United States, as in many similar institutions in other parts of the world, pupils study aerodynamics and principles of design by building models. International contests are held each year for the purpose of competing for the Wakefield and Moffet Trophies, together with many others. At these meetings hundreds of modellers compete from Germany, France, Italy, United States, Great Britain and the Dominions.
The model building movement in New Zealand is progressing rapidly. More inter-club contests are' being held every year, and each meeting seems to be more successful, from a flying point of view, than the previous one. Over the New Year, the Masterton, New Plymouth and Palmerston North Model Aero Clubs competed in the Wanganui Club’s first annual rally, which was a great success. Over Anniversary weekend, the Wellington, Wanganui and Palmerston North Clubs will visit Masterton to compete in that Club’s first annual inter-club flying meeting. The meeting, which will be the largest ever held in Masterton, will be of particular interest to the public, and also to those keen on aviation. i
The meeting will be held on the polo grounds, Te Ore Ore. on Sunday .and Monday, commencing at 10 a.m. each day.
