MASTERTON CLUB’S MEETING. LAST NIGHT’S RESULTS. The Masterton Amateur Athletic Club held its usual evening meeting last night. The following are the results: —

75yd handicap: Sellar 1, Burns 2, Martin 3.

100yds handicap: Wilton 1, Welphy 2, Ryan 3.

440yds handicap: McPherson 1, Sellar 2, Sanson and R. Wyeth dead heat 3. Hop, step and jump: A. Curtis 1, Stratton 2, Saunders 3. Throwing the discus: Crisp 1, Wilton 2, A. Curtis 3. Throwing the javelin: Crisp 1, J. Burns 2, Bodie 3. Ladies 75yds handicap: J. Grantham 1, L. O’Neill 2, J. Cairns 3. Ladies’ 100yds handicap: J. Grantham 1, J. Cairns 2, L. O’Neill 3. Girls 75yds handicap: V. Dewar 1, B. Dixon 2, M. Wickins 3. Boys’ 100yds handicap: Doyle 1, A. Voyce 2, V. Marsh 3. Boys’ 440yds handicap: Doyle 1, Trun 2, Geary 3. | mile bicycle handicap: McAliece 1, Osborne 2, Wollett 3. 1 mile bicycle handicap: Green 1, McAliece 2, Woollett 3. A. Fitch, the American coach, will be at the Park Oval every night between 5 and 7 o’clock for coaching purposes. His services are also available during the day by arrangement.

ANNIVERSARY DAY SPORTS. PAT BOOT TO ATTEMPT RECORD ON PARK OVAL. One of the feature events of the Masterton Athletic Club’s Anniversary Day meeting will be the attempt by the Empire Games 1-mile title-holder V. P. Boot on the record of 73 1/5 seconds for the 600 yards established at the Park Oval by R. Johnston, a member of the South African team that toured New Zealand in 1922. Given favourable conditions Boot will only require to maintain the form he has shown this season to lower the record. Other feature events will be an exhibition by the Olympic representative, Al Fitch.

The one mile handicap will prove a great draw and will allow Masterton residents to see W. A. C. Pullar in action. Pullar has been putting up great performances of late and will be in great fettle on Monday. Large entries have been received for all events and the meeting is drawing the best athletes in the Wellington and surrounding districts and first class competition is ensured throughout. Among the sprinters in the 100 yards, 120 yards Messenger Memorial and 220 yards handicaps will be A. Welply, Masterton, J. P. Eastwood (Varsity) □nd J. Ford (Wellington). Contestants m the field events include K. Guy, unner up New Zealand championships in the shot put, and Graham Hunter, N.Z. Champion high jumper, and many others of outstanding ability.

The events are timed to commence at 1.30 p.m. sharp.
