AN AUSTRALIAN PROJECT PURCHASE OF WYATT EARP. SIR D. MAWSON PROPOSES ANNUAL VOYAGES. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. CANBERRA. January 18. Sir Douglas Mawson has submitted a proposal to the Commonwealth Government for the purchase of the explorer Lincoln Ellsworth’s ship, Wyatt Earp, which is at present in south Polar regions. Mi - Ellsworth has offered to sell the Wyatt Earp for £4OOO. which is onlv a fraction of its value. Sii- Douglas Mawson-is sponsoring a plan foi- the formation of an Australian Polar club, which thus would be in a position to send an expedition from Australia to the Antarctic annually, chiefly for meteorological purposes.
