“KATE PLUS TEN"
EDGAR WALLACE THRILLER, Jack Hulbert turns in a breezily entertaining portrayal in “Kate Plus Ten.” a fast moving Edgar Wallace thriller which o.pens at the State Theatre on Wednesday next in conjunction with “Variety Hour.” Appearing as a Scotland Yard detective, the star is given sterling support by Genevieve Tobin, who appears as a woman crook intent on pulling oil' a big bullion robbery, but eventually decides to go straight when she falls in love with her policeman pursuer. The highlight is a thrilling sequence wherein the criminals steal a train laden with bar gold, and drive away down a disused track to a derelict coal mine. This exciting episode culminates in a train-versus-car chase that rivets the attention.
