STUD RAM FAIR
WAIRARAPA SHEEP BREEDERS’ FIXTURE
SOUTH DOWNS AND ROMNEYS SELL WELL. TOP PRICE 230 GUINEAS. * Prices in advance of those realised last year were a feature of yesterday’s stud ram fair at Solway Showgrounds. Highclass Southdowns sold exceptionally well, but anything not showing quality and condition received scant treatment. Stud Romneys sponsored by breeders' of proved ability were in keen demand and the prices realised were definitely in vendors’ favour. The estate of the late Qi Donald again topped the market, Mr. A. S. Ellworthy paying 230gns. for a splendid ram of fine conformation and showing all the best characteristics of the breed.
It was a really good sale for top line rams.
Prices in addition to those reported yesterday were as follow: —
