'The theft during the past three y-ars of 24.000.000 nickels (1,200.000 d iilars) from the municipal subway system was revealed today with the a -rest of two change booth clerks, who are alleged to be members of a ring of 30 employees.
The District Attorney. Mr Thomas Dewey, said that the conspiracy, which netted members 1500 dollars daily at its height, was carried out through the ci-operalion of a number of the maintenance men who turned back the turnstile indicators before handing over the collections to the clerks.
The thefts involved 15 subway stations. Additional arrests are expected.
