With the first week of the New Zealand bowling championship tournament over, officials have every reason to be pleased with the progress made, the competitions, all having run to schedule, in spite of the fact that the weather has been threatening on several occasions.

Light showers fell yesterday, but there was not sufficient rain to hamper the competitors to any great extent, though the greens were more holding and provided a distinct change from conditions which had prevailed earlier.

As the tournament progresses, the standard, which has been excellent, continues to rise. At the completion of four rounds in the rinks event, the following 16 players remain undefeated: Myers (Avondale), Rolls (Featherston), Pipe (Maitai), Thomas (Mount Albert), Watts (Victoria), De Lannay (Carlton), Walker (Mount Eden), Ure (Auckland), Franks (Balmoral), Ritchie (Carlton), Higginbotham (Ponsonby).
