By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received This Day. 12.10 p.m.) SYDNEY. This Day. Bush fire deaths now total five in New South Wales. The town of Yalwal, near Nowra, has been virtually wiped out by bush fires. On a sixty-mile front, the flames are now threatening Oberon and the Jenolan ’Caves district. Fires in the Federal capital territory have destroyed thousands of acres of valuable pine timber, and grazing land* and burnt, out many homestead buildings. At one stage, the possibility of evacuating Government. House was contemplated. The damage in Canberra has not yet been assessed, but the destruction of the Government pine plantations alone represents a loss of about £250,000. The “Daily Telegraph" says the fire damage in New South Wales and Victoria is estimated to have reached £2,500,000. i LOSSES NEAR BATHURST SEVENTY HOMES DESTROYED. AT LEAST 200,000 SHEEP BURNED TO DEATH. (Received This Day. 11.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Seventy-four homes were razed in Trunkey, near Bathurst, where the damage is estimated at £250,000. At least 200,000 sheep have been burned to death.
