ECONOMIC WAR
REPORTS OF ACTION AGAINST JAPAN.
NOTHING HEARD OFFICIALLY BY PREMIER.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, This Day
The New Zealand Government has not heai’d, and does not expect to hear, anything official about the report published yesterday in which the Australian Press Association’s correspondent in London stated that several countries would probably declare an economic war on Japan, stated the Prime Minister, Mr Savage, in an interview yesterday. The published report was the first that he had learned of the matter, MrSavage added. When it was pointed out that the report stated that the Dominions had been consulted, Mr Savage said the New Zealand Government had not been approached by any other Government, -and laughingly agreed that "if the Dominions have been consulted this one has been insulted.”
