The 880 players in the New Zealand bowling rinks champiortship recommenced play in the third round this morning in calmer but hazy weather. The 220 teams are today playing on the green of a different, club to that, of yesterday. For the first time in New Zealand an I electrical measuring device is in use. | It was concaved by W. J. Blair, a j member of the Carlton Club, who is a mechanician in the Telegraph Department. He took two years to perfect I' the measure, which lights an electric bulb on touching a bowl and the touch j' is fine enough for a feather to cause a | flash. Thus a decision to an infinitesim-L al part of an inch can be decided where < an ordinary measure might fail. Two former rinks of champion skips today, Brackenridge (Lyall Bay) and ; H. Wilson (Linwood) are both playing < in Section D at Stanley Bay, while in . Section G at Grey Lynn A. Parsons < (Ponsonby) and the Sydney skip (R. T.
