Telephone news from Port Headland states that no lives'were lost in the cyclone but the damage to property is extensive. Three houses were blown out to sea and many others were demolished when the cyclone struck the town on Wednesday. Port Hedland occupies a low-lying site on the north-western coast of Australia. When a furious cyclone occurred on Wednesday, it was reported that the town was surrounded by rising seas. Later all communication was cut off and it was feared that the town and its inhabitants might have been overwhelmed.
