A thousand guests attended the shilling “anti-snob” ball arranged by the Mayor of Wimbledon at the Town Hail last night. The men wore their day clothes and the women afternoon dresses. Numerous titled persons, including Sir Harry Twyford, the former Lord Mayor of London, attended The Mayor declared that the object of the ball was to enable citizens to enjoy the facilities of the civic building from which they had previously been excluded owing to the high price of charity functions.
