PROTEST BY BRITAIN
INVASION OF TERRITORIAL . WATERS. NAVAL ACTION OF DECEMBER 20. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, January 12. The naval correspondent of “The Times" says that the Government has strongly protested to General Franco against the violation of British territorial waters by nationalist vessels in the naval action on December 30. The Government is reserving the right to claim compensation for injuries to British subjects and damage to property. INQUIRY DEMANDED. ATTACK ON THE MARIONGA. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.20 a.m.) RUGBY. January 12. As a result of the examination of the circumstances that attach to the attack on the British steamer Marionga. Britain has lodged a protest with the Burgos authorities, together with a request that the incident be fully investigated.
